On the black cap, the stylised portraits of all four band members are immortalised, based on the iconic artwork of the Queen II and Hot Space album covers. The barrel features a rhomboidal pattern inspired by Freddie Mercury’s famous black-and-white diamond unitard, his unmistakable stage costume. The platinum-coated cone takes its distinctive look from the volume and tone control knobs of Brian May’s electric guitar. The cone ring is embossed with the name of the album: A Night at the Opera.
The silhouette of the cap top is inspired by the crown worn by Mercury during the closing rendition of God Save The Queen, a metaphor for the majestic character of the band and its musical legacy. The platinum-coated clip is designed to resemble a microphone stand, a reference to one of the hallmarks of Freddie Mercury’s live performances. The edition is limited to 1975 pieces, the year of release of A Night at the Opera.
